A Scandinavian woman conquering Paris

Sometimes the door to success is in fact a ladder. Or at least it was for Cecilie Manz, Danish designer just nominated Designer of The Year by Maison&Objet 2018.

Her pathway in the design sector exactly started from the project of a ladder, The Ladder. The other project that launched her career is the Caravaggio lamp, designed in 2005 for Lightyears (Fritz Hansen). Two objects outlining the main traits of the Scandinavian designer’s approach: care for details and multidisciplinarity. What makes her creations unique is colour, with which she creates a subtle game of shades of grey with some more vibrant tones: “key element is the definition of a specific palette from the beginning of each project, as it helps strengthen the identity of a product” she says.

We just have to wait until January, when Cecilie Manz will present at Maison&Objet the result of her research on old and new pieces in an exhibition of well-known and unprecedented elements.
