Prada Observatory: watching Milan under a new perspective

Osservatorio is the latest extension of Fondazione Prada in Milan. Inaugurated on December 21st 2016, a few steps away from the first store of the "Fratelli Prada", just in the middle of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The official purpose of the observatory is to showcase today’s photography and visual languages. The opening exhibition was curated by Francesco Zanot and its title is “Give me yesterday”, an interesting look into the work of fourteen Italian and international photographers which will be open until March 12th 2017. The artworks here exhibited are charming and nice to look at and photograph. Overall, they offer a broad overview on the most varied contemporary photographic techniques, on the use of the software completing the snapshot and on their artistic as well as social and psychological value. Some references also to family, love and friendship.

A complete observatory allowing to watch the city from a new point of view. Indeed, all the exhibition spaces are located in the top part of the Galleria and allow to enjoy a fresh overview of the glass windows covering the vaults.

Walking around the rooms of Osservatorio it is strange to see how photography can be lived in many different ways also by visitors, photography enthusiasts who not only watch but also use their cameras and phones to take pictures of the displayed images and the roof of the Galleria. Osservatorio proves to be the perfect place for those who really love photography from both sides of the lens.
