Brioni and Hisao Hanafusa: championing sustainable design

As an homage to masterful design, Brioni celebrates Salone del Mobile 2018 by collaborating with Hisao Hanufusa, the visionary craftsman.

From 17th to 22nd April, Brioni will host a selection of the Japanese artist’s carpentry throughout its Milan store, sealed with a co-curated window display.
Hanafusa's work uses an ancient Japanese joinery technique that binds the wood without nails or adhesive, to achieve a truly smooth, balanced finish.

Two of the pieces exhibited are uniquely handcrafted for Brioni: a walnut wood valet stand, precisely tapered to fit the flawless cut of a Brioni suit, and handcrafted linden wood and rice paper lamp, inspired by traditional Japanese design.

Both Brioni and Hanafusa are proponents of sustainable design, championing artisanal craft as part of an environmentally friendly lifestyle. From impeccable timeless tailoring to flawless handcrafted woodwork, the combined aesthetic defines the message of consciously living elegantly. The collaboration is thus a flawless marriage of classic elegance and contemporary innovation.
