Salvatori presents The Village in collaboration with internationally renowned designers

News — 21 April 2021

The collection consists of a series of architectural miniatures created by a group of top designers and architects.

Salvatori presents "The Village", a new collection and initiative that will be unveiled from March 2021 and created in collaboration with internationally renowned designers and architects. The collection comes from an idea of Gabriele Salvatori, CEO of the Tuscan brand, and is translated into a series of miniature houses, with the aim of focusing attention on the most important and current issues of our contemporary living.

Each designer/architect has created a miniature, applying elements of his/her own culture and social background. In this way, the collection - as a whole - represents in scale what our society is today: a true global, multicultural and colourful village. Each miniature is unique and incomparable, just like the planet we live on.

"Over the past year we have all had to deal with the space we have chosen as our home, we have experienced it as we had never done before, we have observed it, we have dreamed of changes. We have realised that home, more than anything else, is our nest and as such it needs to represent us in every way. We also experienced an extreme global feeling of solidarity that unified the world's population, allowing us to understand that we are all neighbours and everyone's life depends on everyone else's" says Gabriele Salvatori.

The collection debuts with Patricia Urquiola, who for The Village has created Kore, two homes created using two stones that respectively give names to the pieces: Alma in Rosa Portogallo, characterised by intense colours and veining that enrich it, and Petra in Travertino, an extremely textured marble, naturally carved and pleasantly rough to the touch.

As well as Patricia Urquiola, The Village will see the participation of Rodolfo Dordoni, Kengo Kuma, Elisa Ossino, John Pawson, Vincent Van Duysen and Yabu Pushelberg and will close with a collective installation of all the miniatures.
