Stories

Zanotta

Zanotta has always been a melting pot of ideas, people, creativity and research, combining a future-oriented vision with culture and a hint of irony.

One of the most distinctive brands in the Italian design panorama, Zanotta’s products – designed by some of the most celebrated designers and talents in the industry – have won three Compasso d’Oro awards and have been exhibited in over 50 leading museums around the world.

Zanotta’s products interact with the space around them, building relationships with the people that use them and telling a story that is changing all the time as they become the expression of a truly individual lifestyle. They are the objects that come to be the protagonists of our day-to-day lives, each one a manifestation of its personality, a reflection of its time. They enshrine the values synonymous with Zanotta: comfort, ergonomics, design innovation, sustainability, flexibility and functionality.

Zanotta is multi-faceted and versatile. It brings generations together. It connects people, drawing a line between past and future and carrying forth the legacy that Aurelio Zanotta began in 1954, when he showed vision, daring and intuition by embarking on this great adventure. Aurelio came up with a different way of doing business – he championed all things beautiful, promoting the democratisation of design and delivering products built to last.

To this day, Zanotta allows its products to do the talking and to silently document the stories they witness as they interact with people and spaces. Quite simply, Zanotta supplies the objects that take centre stage in this spectacle we call life.

Design and the designers
_

The founding values of the Zanotta identity are accompanied by the capability to intercept the cultural and social changes that affect the culture of living, in homes and work spaces. This peculiar attitude allows the company to implement a constant interpretation of the contemporary taste.

Internationally famed architects and designers have always been called in to create the products. Some of them are.

Many iconic products became established over the years, i.e. from design classics have really become long-seller pieces.

The collection
_

Over the years Zanotta has opened to new production sceneries, expanding the development and production of furnishing objects for the outdoor use and, more recently, for the contract division. The catalogue has been gradually widened with new collections, becoming one of the most complete on the international scene and nowadays comprises these furniture types: armchairs, sofas, beds, storage units, bookcases, chairs, tables, small tables and furnishing accessories.

To the product range, in 1989 the "Zanotta Edizioni" collection was added; furnishing objects that merge design and applied art. Freed from the constraints of mass- production, the collection's articles are “handmade” to a great extent. By harking back to the most significant facets of Italy's artistic craft tradition, they revive and rework disused techniques, like mosaic, inlay and painted decorations. This small-batch and/or numbered and limited edition will augment their value over time.

Communication
_

The attention for disciplines linked to the communication, that transmit Zanotta values and languages finds its expression in the communication of the brand image. This has always featured in a unique and strong way the Zanotta trademark since its origins, thanks to the cooperation of the most affirmed professionals in the fields of: graphics, photography, video, the cultural and journalistic narrative

The commercial distribution can count on 4 Flagship Stores and on more than 800 selected dealers, in 60 nations and an export rate of more than 80% of the turnover.
